Law Enforcement and Retailer Team Up Against
Coupon Counterfeiter

The Coupon Information Corporation and its Board of Directors recognized the joint efforts of law enforcement, manufacturers and a major retailer for their investigation, prosecution, and incarceration of coupon counterfeiter Glenn Rodgers. Rodgers used counterfeit coupons to defraud major chain stores and manufacturers nationwide, selling counterfeit coupons on eBay and other fraudulent methods of operation. Rodgers was sentenced to 16 months in a California State Prison. His personal assets, including his home and cars, were liquidated to pay restitution.

The CIC awarded the Bronze Medallion to Deputy Sheriff Bryan Zierdt, in recognition of his excellence on this case. Deputy Sheriff Zierdt is only the second member of a Sheriff’s Office to win this award in CIC’s 25-year history. Jason Parsons and Cuau Tapiawere, of Target’s Loss Prevention, received the first-ever CIC President’s Award for their outstanding and critical role as well.

“This Manufacturer-Retailer-Law Enforcement Partnership should serve as an example of how organizations with diverse economic interests can cooperate with law enforcement to pursue justice. I look forward to enhancing cooperation throughout the industry to address the problem of coupon counterfeiting,” said Nancy Lindemood, CIC President.
